Biden administration has redesignated the Houthi group, also known as Ansarallah, as a "specially designated global terrorist" group. This decision comes in the wake of U.S.-led attacks on the

Houthis, who have been launching attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

The White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, stated that the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea meet the "textbook definition of terrorism." The designation aims to impede terrorist funding to the Houthis, restrict their access to financial markets, and hold them accountable for their actions.
